CHP Leader Özgür Özel: "If they continue like this, they will break where they are thin."

CHP Leader Özgür Özel: "If they continue like this, they will break where they are thin."

CHP Leader Özgür Özel evaluated the operations targeting CHP municipalities, the increasing tension in politics, and the government's attitude.

Özel stated that they would not back down just because the political atmosphere was growing tense, saying, "If the Republican People's Party takes one step back, they are obsessed with taking this country back a century. If we bow down one inch, they will bring this nation to its knees. If they continue like this, they will break where they are. It is not my job to ease tensions. Because I am not the one who started them."

In an interview with Sözcü, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel spoke about the recent increase in operations targeting the CHP.

Özel said, “They must be in power in accordance with law, legislation, and morality,” and added:

Let me say this: We are not going to back down from what we believe is right, or back down from our struggle, just because the political climate is getting tense. If the Republican People's Party (CHP) misses a word, they will silence this nation forever. If the CHP takes one step back, they are obsessed with taking this country back a century. If we bow down even an inch, they will bring this nation to its knees. So, if they continue like this, they will break where they are. It is not my job to de-escalate the tension. Because I am not the one who started it.

"THEY SHOULD STOP APPLYING 'ENEMY LAW'"

When asked what he expected to happen to resolve this tension, CHP Chairman Özel gave the following answer:

First, they need to stop applying 'enemy law.' They need to stop applying 'enemy law' to Ekrem İmamoğlu, our friends, and most recently, our Adana Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Zeydan Karalar. The same person who caused our mayors to be arrested, when they work with the AKP, nothing happens, but when they work with the CHP, they take them away and detain them. They need to stop this. They need to be in power, in accordance with law, law, and morality, like the government. And let them face the opposition like the opposition. What will we do if they abandon their status as being in power and attack us with stones, sticks, and axes? We will do what a structure that has been declared war on and attacked would do. We will develop our own protective reflexes.

"WE ARE IN NO WAY TO STOP FIGHTING"

We are not the ones who initiated, escalated, escalated, or perpetuated the tension here. We are simply responding to the evil done to us in kind. Otherwise, the voters would not justify their vote for us. In other words, the people did not vote for us to surrender to this evil, to defeat us.

Yes, numerous criminal cases are being filed against us. There are also compensation claims as high as the world's. There are currently over 40 compensation claims. Indictments for 26 criminal cases are pending in the Turkish Grand National Assembly. Despite all this, we are in no position to back down from speaking our truth and fighting for it. We are in the final month of the first quarter of the 21st century, before the eyes of the entire world. So, imagine the end of 25 years. The entire world entered the millennium with great joy. How far has the world come in 25 years? With artificial intelligence, robotics, the communication capabilities they've developed, internet speeds, and the inventions they've made, Turkey has finally reached its peak. Unfortunately, the AK Party was in charge for 23 of those 25 years. Look at what they've done to the country.

"23 YEARS OF AK PARTY RULE HAS NOT BEEN GOOD FOR Türkiye"

Turkey, having set its sights on recognizing the European Union and grasping Europe by the hand, was poised to reach the level of contemporary civilizations in 25 years, but now we've become a third-world country. We're at the bottom of the rankings in everything, including democracy, rule of law, and trust in justice. There's not a single AK Party minister who could find a place on the map for the countries that follow us. We're in that position. But we consistently rank first in Europe in poverty, unemployment, insecurity, workplace accidents, violence against women, and child abuse. This means that 23 years of AK Party rule have not been good for Türkiye. This must be recognized, and from now on, we need a government that will catch up with Europe, the world, and bring a smile to Türkiye's face again in the next 25 years. We are doing what is necessary.
